OK, so you have been diagnosed with infertility,  Now what?  Join the waiting game.  The waiting game can teach you a lot about life.  The waiting game can become whatever you want to make it.  Remember, you have the power to make a choice about how you live your life.  You have the choice whether to make the waiting game happy, sad, bad, mad, etc.

I feel my job is not only to help you conceive, but I want to help you make your waiting game a pleasant one.  Why?  Because, I believe the happer you are the shorter your wait will be.  I have found that a happy persons body reacts much more positive than a unhappy persons body heals.

I try to spend at least 30-60 minutes with each of my patients to help them understand what is going on with their body.  Many of the women who come in are seeing a infertility specialist, but really don’t understand what they are doing and why.  I spend the time to explain to them to the best of my knowledge what and why they are having the test they are having, taking the medications they are taking etc.  I plan each persons treatment schedule according to their basal body temperature chart, and when their body needs extra support.  I do use herbs unless the doctor has asked you not to take herbal formulas, which in that case I will not ask you to take herbal medicine.

This is a very difficult time in your life.  Sometimes husbands really don’t understand what you are going through, and some get tired of hearing about it.  After all, often women become very consumed with it.  But, you don’t have to –

Relax, come in for acupuncture.  Talk to me about what you are going through.  Learn how to turn a stressful time in your life into a happy time.  After all you are doing what you need to be doing, to achieve your goal, so you should be rewarding yourself.

I will be happy to help you make your waiting game a pleasant happy one.

Question:  What 14 days durning a womens cycle is the longest for a person desiring to conceive?

Aniswer:  Actually, 14 days is the same no matter what.  However, I can tell you that women trying to conceive feel the 14 days after ovulation is FOREVER!!!!!

I see so many women that tell me the same story.  This story goes, that before trying to conceive it seemed like their period was every two weeks or less.  Women tell me that they would feel like they had just got back to their normal self and low and behold they would start their period again.  When looking on their calendars, however, they would see that it had been 1 month.

However, now that they are trying to conceive it takes forever!  If you makes you feel better, it seems to take forever for me also.  In fact I find that after ovulation the time just seems to go in slow motion, until we finally find out if she is pregnant or not.  It is funny, that after 7 years of treating women for infertility, it seems just as exciting as the first time I did it.  But, never the less as slow as ever.

So — if those 14 days seem like a month — You are not alone.

Are they right for you?  Have you even thought about it?  So often womenjust do the fertility drugs  because the doctor told them it is OK.  Are fertility drugs right for you?  What side effects do infertility drugs have on you?  Do fertility drugs increase a women’s rate of cancer?

I beg my patients to make a educated decision.  Find out what fertility drugs do to your body.  Find out if you will or will not have side effects.  Understand the medication you are going to be taking.

Often women feel so desperate to become pregnant they forget  that thier body is telling them something.  Your body is saying “No.” this is not the right time for me.  Ask yourself, “Why isn’t this the right time?”  Have to taken care of your body?  Do you eat healthy?  Do you exercise?  How many years have you taken  birth control pills.

Most of the time women get pregnant when their body is healthy and imbalance.  Why not try to be in the best balance as possible.  Why not spend time praying, and asking for understanding as to what is going on within your body.  Why not get weekly acupuncture and possibly take herbs to balance your body to the best it can be — then decide if you are still not pregnant–What is God’s plan?  From here you will make the right decision.

This is the question.  Has this question been answered for you?  Have you prayed about it?  There is a reason why you have not conceived.  You may not understand what that reason is, but there is a reason.

Maybe it is just not the right egg which in turn will produce the right child for you.  Maybe you are not at the right place in your life to be this parent you are intended to be.  Perhaps our world is changing and there are just too many babies already born, and your purpose is to adopt on of these wonderful children who need you.

Whatever the case may be — you have a purpose.  Understanding that purpose will help you to feel better about who you are.

Regardless of how you were brought up, or what your believes are — there is a reason why your life has taken this direction.

At Ancient Arts Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine, I treat people for infertility.  I give Acupuncture Treatments along with Herbs that will help your body be as imbalance as possible.  I help get you body back to its natural state.  Most women that come in end up with positive results.  Most women conceive within 3-6 months after beginning their treatment program.

The women who have come in weekly for 3-6 months learn how the body works and learn that all they can do is take the best care of their body that is possible.  After that it really is out of our hands.

Women will become have children without any treatment, women will become have children with Acupuncture, women will have children with IUI, with IVF,  from a suragent mother.  Women will have children through adobtion.  Women will have no children but great aunts, friends, Godmothers, stepmothers etc.

What is important?

That you find your place of peace and happiness.  That you know you have done what is right for you, and know that whatever you decide to do is right for you, and your loved ones.

Do you have clotting during your period?  Do you have cramps?  Do your breast become tender and sore?  You could have liver qi stagnation.  Western Medicine says this is “normal.”  Eastern Medicine says when womens bodies are working the way they are suppose to work, you should not have cramping, you should not have breast tenderness, you should not have clotting.  In fact — you should not feel moody, sad, angry etc.  You should feel just like you do when you are not in your period.

There are some really good herbs for this:  Xiao my Yao Wan and Jia Wei Xiao Yao Wan are two of the most common formulas.  They are known to help blood flown and to calm the body.  I find that most women who come into my office have Liver Qi Stagnation to some degree.  I have found it to be the cause of infertility.  It is to bad that it is looked at as normal.

Please share your stories to not only help you heal, but help others who may be going through what you have already been through.I believe the 2 weeks after ovulation can be the most difficult time. The up and down emotions. I really believe that men and women must spend time meditating and praying, not when these two weeks roll around each month, but everyday. When we tell ourselves things over and over our mind and body begins to believe it. By the time you get to these two weeks, it is out of our hands. You are either pregnant or not. If we just begin the meditation and prayer at this time it is much more difficult, to really process what is true.Give you mind and body a break, start today no matter what time of your cycle it is. Relax, take deep breaths calm your mind. Remind yourself that you have done everything possible at this point, and if it is meant to be, it will be. Be thankful for your blessings. Practice this everyday as often as possible.

Remember, some women are mothers of their children, and others are mothers of our world. Some are both.

If you can keep a bbt chart without it becoming too stressful, we can understand a lot about what is going on with your cycle. You can download one from my website and email it to me if you would like some help understanding it

Where can I go to download a bbt chart?  www.austininfertility.com

When assessing your potential for  conception, age must be taken into consideration.  I see many, many patients have healthy happy babies through their forties. Because you are getting older does not mean that your egg quality is bad.  We have to look at the whole person from the inside out.  How have you taken care of yourself?  How many years have you been on birth control and told your body not to conceive?  Do you believe you can conceive?  The mind and body work together to form who we are

Are you having a difficult time conceiving?  Have you stopped to ask the question — Is this what you have planned for me?  This is a very important question to ask.  You can try and try but if this isn’t his plan for you it will not happen.

Sit back, say your prayers, ask for the wisdom to understand and the understanding you will need to get through this time of your life.
